Michelle Wraps Up SPOCO!
Michelle Parsons, riding for Echelon Rotor, has had a fine season being highly placed in all of the Midland Spoco Time Trial series enabling her to accrue sufficient points to win the Ladies Series Cup. Michelle rides these events as build up for her International Triathalon events.
Riding in the Velo Sevale 10mile TT on the Upton circuit, Dave Barnes returned the second fastest time of 21.47mins ,a minute behind winner Colin Parry. Other members riding were Brian Newton 26.27, Arja Scarsbrook 26.43mins, the fastest lady on the day, and with Alan Colburn 28.24mins completing the team.
Brian Newton and Arja Scarsbrook also rode the Yeovil 10mTT returning excellent times of 24.59mins and 25.28mins respectively.
Mark Heath competed in the Coventry 10 m TT where he finished in 22.29mins for 15th place, winner on the day was Matt Clinton 20.23mins.
Making a rare appearance, Simon Osborne rode in the Gloucester City 25m TT timing in at 1.01.47hrs for 13th place with the winner, Rob Pears finishing in 55.47mins.
Paul Dring rode the 55 mile Weaver Valley Road Race in Cheshire where he was active throughout the event getting in several breaks but all of them being pulled back to produce a bunch sprint in which he was placed 23rd.However he was awarded the most aggressive rider's prize by the judges for his consistent efforts throughout the event.

Tom Hits Top Form!
Competing in the Cardiff 10m TT, Team Echelon-Rotor junior member Tom Ward recorded a fine time of 21.03mins to finish in 7th place just ahead of Team Manager Tim Wood whose time of 21.20mins gave him 8th position. The fastest time of the event was by Simon Harradine from Ross with a 19.48mins. Previous to this event Tim Wood had competed in the Port Talbot 25m TT at Glyneath recording a 52.18mins for 20th place in a field of top class riders, with National Champion Michael Hutchinson fastest in a time of 47.47mins.
In the road racing scene Paul Dring and Joe Page rode the Derby Mercury 65mile event. An early break of 9 riders stayed clear of the main field for 9 of the 12 lap race. With the whole field back together Matt Bottrill I Ride Team, rode clear for a fine victory. With just over a lap to go, a group of 7 riders including Paul Dring pulled clear of the field to contest the sprint for 2nd, where Paul finished 7th. In the main bunch sprint Joe Page was well to the fore giving him 16th place.
In the opening event of the West Mids Cyclo Cross League at Redditch Joe Page riding in the Senior event was going well in 8th place when on the last lap he fell damaging his rear gear, but still managed to finish in 11th position. Father Vince competing in the Veterans and Junior race finished in 11th place overall.
Dave back with a bang!
Returning to the racing scene, David Barnes of Echelon-Rotor, took the honours in the Leamington 10mile TT with a winning time of 21.24mins. He was supported by veterans Brian Newton and Alan Colburn with times of 25.03mins and 26.58mins. Meanwhile in the In the 2-up 10mile event, veterans, Arja Scarsbrook and John Dixson recorded 24.31mins to finish in 2nd place.
Competing in the Junior Tour of Wales, which was comprised of 5 stages over 3 days covering a distance of 250 miles, Joe Page finished in a fine 26th place overall from a 100 rider field. His best daily placing was 8th on stage 4 when he was in a race winning break of 15 riders.
Vince Page rode the Veterans Handicap 30 lap circuit race at Birmingham Business Park where the whole field came together with 10 laps remaining. The field stayed together until the end with Vince taking 6th in the final bunch sprint.

Vince gets another win and a second!
Echelon-Rotor's Vince Page has had two excellent results on the Stourport Circuit with a win in the LVRC Event taking the bunch sprint and was second in the sprint finish at the Bromsgrove promotion. Son, Joe, rode in the Senior Events to claim 6th in the Epic race and 8th in the Bromsgrove Event.
In the Stafford Grand Prix a group of 12 riders, including Mark Corbett, Worcester St Johns, broke clear to gain a lead of over a minute but on the last of the 5 laps a group of 5 including Paul Dring fought hard to bridge the gap to the leaders with 1 mile remaining. In the resulting group sprint Paul took 5th with Mark finishing in 12th having won a special sprint prime on Lap 2.
Competing in the Welsh 10 mile TT Championships, Tim Wood recorded a fine 20.03mins to place him 7th in the Senior Event. Dave Dickerson timed in at 21.33mins for 21st place.Riding in the supporting event "supervet" Alan Colburn recorded 26.25mins to give him 10th place. Whilst in the Ladies Event,Arja Scarsbrook, recorded 25.29mins for 9th fastest lady with Olympic rider, Rebecca Romero winning in 22.38mins. The fastest time of the day was by Kieron Davies, Bynea CC,19.49mins.
Vince gets second win!
Echelon Rotor team rider Vince Page took his 2nd win of the season in an event at Stourport circuit, followed a few days later with 4th place on the same course. He completed the week with another fine performance finishing 3rd in the 3rd Stage of the Ernie Clements Memorial road race at Welland, in the process winning his age related category. In other road race events, son Joe Page also took an excellent 6th place in an Elite category circuit race at Solihull and Steve Dring took 5th place in the final Moreton evening event of the season, giving him 9th place in the overall series.
Team Manager Tim Wood improved his personal best time to 1.50.25 hours in the Cardiff 50 mile time trial which was enough for 2nd place on the day. Simon Osborne finished 7 places further back, also recording a personal best time of 1.56.14 hours.
In the Worcester St Johns CC organised round 5 of the Rudy Project Time Trial Series, Echelon-Rotor junior rider Tom Ward finished in 3rd place in his category with a time of 32.01 mins for the 15 mile event on the sporting Astley circuit.
Tim's back with a win!
Team Echelon Rotor promoted a 2 day event on sporting courses over the weekend consisting of a 16 mile time trial based at Welland on Saturday and a 19.5 mile time trial at Staunton on Sunday. Worcester St Johns CC rider Adam Hart won the shorter race with a time of 37.55 mins with Echelon riders Mark Heath 38.14 mins and Paul Dring 38.26 mins in 4th and 5th places. Alan Colborn with 48.11 mins took 2nd place on Veterans Standard time. In Sundays event, Echelon team manager Tim Wood did a fine ride to win the event by over a minute in a time of 43.06 mins, with Paul Dring again taking fifth spot in a time of 45.06 mins. Alan Colborn went one better in the longer event winning the Veterans standard in 56.53 mins.
Guesting for Team GB in the 300 mile International Junior 6 day of Ireland, Joe Page claimed an excellent 18th place overall with a best individual placing of 4th on the 5th stage. He also finished 6th overall in the mountains competition and helped Team GB to an overall 5th position in the team competition.
Following a number of near misses, father Vince Page finally claimed his first win of the season, taking the honours in the Stourport circuit veterans road race.

Tom wins Midland junior title & women's Tri success!

In the Midlands DC 10 mile time trial championships at Alcester, Echelon-Rotor team member Tom Ward was the fastest junior with a time of 22.12 mins. Alison Bagnall was 6th fastest lady in 24.36 mins and senior riders Mark Heath and Stefan Harrison recorded 21.25 and 21.36 to finish in 8th and 9th places in the mens event.
The Echelon-Rotor Triathlon Team of Alison Bagnall, Fran Osborne, Helen Russell and Heather Rees successfully defended their Cardiff Triples title. The team showed great all round strength to claim the honours in an event that consisted of 3 seperate triathlon races. Winning by an impressive 9 minute margin to the second place womans team.
Simon Osborne was delighted with a sub 2 hour personal best time of 1 hour 58.50 mins giving him 7th place in the West London CA 50 mile time trial.
Riders Stefan Harrison 21.11 mins, Vince Page 23.27 mins and John Dixon 24.31 mins were the quickest team in the Bromsgrove Olympic 10 mile time trial.
In road racing, Steve Dring took 4th place in the Ludgershall Elite circuit race in Wiltshire. Run off at a frantic pace, Steve found excellent team support in brother Paul who led him out in the final sprint before crossing the line in 13th position.
Vince page finished 4th from a winning break of 7 riders in the Stourport Circuit race, won by Worcester St Johns rider Mark Corbett.
Team win in Wales!
It was a busy weekend for the Echelon-Rotor team. Team Manager Tim Wood produced a seasons best time of 52.18 minutes for 4th position in the Cardiff 25 mile Time Trial at Usk. Ably supported by Dave Dickerson 53.24 and Simon Osborne, which gave Echelon-Rotor the team honours.
In the Warwickshire 25 mile time trial at Alcester, Stefan Harrison took 3rd place with a time of 55.29 minutes. Returning for his first time trial performance after taking an extended break, Paul Dring claimed 5th position with a time 56.07 minutes.
Competing in the Wyre Forest CC promoted circuit race at the Stourport track, Joe Page earned a well deserved 2nd place from a leading break of 6 riders. Steve Dring continued his consistent form in the Moreton Evening Series with 5th place in the bunch sprint.
Steve in Road Race win!
Echelon-Rotor's Steve Dring won the Moreton Evening Handicap Road Race after being in the scratch group which caught the field with two laps remaining. On the last lap he broke away with another rider maintaining a gap until the finish where he took the final sprint.
Vince Page has kept up his good form with a 2nd place in the LVRC Circuit race at Stourport which followed on from 5th place at the Staunton evening road race.
Competing in the National Veterans 10 mile Time Trial Championship,a competition based on Standard Age Time, Alan Colburn was placed 12th when returning an actual time of 25.34mins and John Dixon 20th - 23.57mins.

Team win in Welsh rain!
Echelon-Rotor won the Team Award in the Welsh Open 50 mile Championships with the team recording good times in the very wet and windy conditions. Dave Dickerson led the team home recording 1.56.49hrs to take the individual silver medal position and was ably supported by Tim Wood 1.59.53hrs in 6th, Rchard Berriman 8th in 2.02.33hrs and Simon Osborne timing in at 2.04.16hrs. The fastsest time on the day was recorded by Justyn Cannon 1.55.03hrs.
Celebrating his 80th birthday in style Alan Colburn took second standard position in the Redditch 10 mile TT with 26.14mins whilst team-mate, John Dixon, took first standard position in a time of 23.54mins.
In the same event Stefan Harrison was 4th fastest with 21.08mins, Tom Ward came 9th taking the fastest Junior award with 22.02mins, Peter Ward, 11th, recorded 22.16mins with the winner on the day, John Simpkins, returning 20.13mins.
In the Stourbridge Velo Criterium Circuit Race at Stourport which was won by Mark Corbett, Worcester St Johns, Vince Page took 4th place and 1st Vet.
Riding in the Wool Road Races Steve Dring sprinted to 4th place in the Evening Event following this up with 1st place in a very small field of riders in the 50mile race.
Vince takes another top 10!
Echelon Rotor rider Vince Page completed a recent run of consistent performances by taking 5th position in the Solihull Veterans Road Race. This followed another fine performance taking 2nd place in the bunch sprint and 3rd position overall in the Stourbridge Veterans road race. Both performances earned him 1st place in his age related category. Sandwiched in between, he also took an excellent 4th place in the Stourport evening circuit series. Not to be upstaged, son Joe Page also produced an excellent result taking 9th position in a tough uphill bunch sprint finish in the Derby Mercury Road Race.
In the Oxford City 10 mile time trial, team riders Richard Berriman and Stefan Harrison earned 2nd and 5th positions with times of 20.44 mins and 20.59 mins just over 30 seconds behind the winner Jon Simpkins 20.15 mins. A week earlier Stefan returned 4.03.03 hours in the Hounslow 100 mile time trial, giving him an excellent 7th position in his first attempt over the distance.

Top ten Tom!
Echelon Rotor member, Tom Ward, rode the National Junior 10 mile Time Trial championships in North Yorkshire finishing in an excellent 9th place with a time of 23.07mins. The previous week on a faster course in the Chippenham 10m TT he returned a very quick time of 20.27mins. to give him the fastest junior ride of the day and place him 8th overall in the event.
Riding the Beacon 10mile TT, on a revised course at Alcester, Stefan Harrison produced the 3rd fastest time with 21.46mins. Holly Page, Worcester St Johns member, won the junior/ladies prize for the time closest to their personal best when she recorded 26.02mins. Father, Vince, returned 23.26mins.
In the second round of the National Vets Road Race Series at Banbury over 60 miles Nick Yarworth retained his overall lead in the 50-60's competition when he took 5th in the bunch sprint. Vince Page, riding in the 40-50's group over 75miles finished in a fine 6th place.
In the opening event of the Stourport Circuit Race Joe Page broke away with 2 other riders including Matt Sheppard, Worcester St Johns, and they stayed clear until the end where Matt took 2nd and Joe 3rd in the sprint. Vince was placed 7th in the race.
Steve Dring competed in the Mountbatten Circuit Series. In the last two events he broke away with groups to lap the field finishing in 6th and 5th places respectively.
Nick takes early series lead!
Nick Yarworth, Echelon Cycles, won the opening event of the National Masters Road Race Series over 60 miles at Audlam in Cheshire. After 5 miles of racing a breakaway group of 5 riders containing Nick pulled clear of the main field gaining 3 minutes by the end with Nick taking first place in the sprint, a perfect start to the series.
In the Wyre Forest 56 mile RR Vince Page went clear with a 13 man break early in the event which was reduced to 8 riders by the end with Vince taking 3rd in the final sprint.
Steve Dring competed in two Circuit Events where he was placed 6th at Ilton in Somerset and 7th at the Mountbatten Circuit, Portsmouth.
Joe Page chose the Mountain Bike discipline at Top Barn Farm where he took a fine 2nd place in the Junior Event.
On the Time trialling scene, Richard Berriman rode his first ever 25 mile TT at Ogmore Valley obtaining 3rd place overall with a fantastic 54.37mins.
In the Veteran section of the Coventry 10 mile TT John Dixon was first on standard with 25.20mins, supported by Brian Newton 26.46mins and Alan Colburn 27.44 mins. Whilst in the Ladies Event Arja Scarsbrook recorded 26.30mins for the the first lady on standard.
James 2nd and a team win!
Echelon-Rotor had a very busy Easter weekend with 10 members competing in the Warwickshire 10 mile time trial on Saturday. The team's fastest rider was James Wall 20.08 mins just 2 seconds behind winner Richard Bradley. Tom Ward won fastest Junior 21.18mins. Other times were Richard Berriman 21.06, Mark Heath 22.08, Peter Ward 22.26, Vince Page 22.46, John Dixon 24.40, Brian Newton 24.49, Arja Scarsbrook 26.11, Alan Colburne 26.26. The fastest junior lady was Holly Page of the Worcester St Johns Cycling Club in 26.18. Earlier in the day, father and son, Peter and Tom Ward finished 3rd in the tandem event in 21.51.
On Sunday, 4 riders tackled the Beacon 41 mile mountain time trial, based around Clifton-on-Teme and Martley, which included two climbs of Stanford Bank. Joe Page won the under 23 competition with 1hr 57mins 10 secs. Michelle Parsons was 2nd Lady with 2.10.16, supported by Fran Osbourne in 2.20.28. Simon Osbourne was unfortunate to puncture and didn't finish. The event was won by ex-national hill climb champion Matt Clinton in 1.45.47. Adrian Bird, representing the Worcester St Johns completed the course in 1.54.52.
Steve Dring finished 7th in the Mountbatten Circuit Race in Portsmouth.

James wins again!
James Wall, Echelon-Rotor, kept up his early season form to win the Warwickshire RC 28 mile TT around the Inkberrow Circuit in a time of 1.01.27hrs. He was well supported by his team with David Barnes clinching 3rd spot with 1.05.41hrs, Mark Heath in 9th position 1.09.07hrs and Peter Ward with 1.10.55hrs. A further podium place was taken by Michelle Parsons being the 2nd fastest lady in 1.15.42hrs.
In the Wyre Forest SPOCO 14 mile TT David Barnes returned the 5th fastest time of 33.21mins with veterans, Vince Page in 10th with 34.48mins and Alan Colburn 44.16mins.
The Road Race around Welland, promoted by Echelon Cycles, was held in beautiful, sunny conditions and completed in record time resulted in a win for the Willier Team member, Ian Rees who outsprinted Matt Cronshaw Team Raleigh. The race was hotly contested throughout the 80 miles with the only significant break away group of 6 riders including Steve Dring, Echelon Cycles and local rider, Ian Fagan. This group gained a maximum lead of 45secs before splitting on the final lap with only Rees and Cronshaw surviving to contest the finish.
Nick gets first win for new team!
New Echelon Rotor member, Nick Yarworth, had his first win of the season when he won the 50+ Velo Club Sevale Road Race on a circuit around the Alfrick, Suckley area. He broke away with 4 other riders and the group stayed ahead to contest the finish with Nick winning the uphill sprint into Suckley. A further podium place was gained by Vince Page in the 40+ Event. Similarly Vince was in a breakaway group of 4 riders where he took 2nd place in the final sprint. In the 60+ Event, local rider, John Callaghan of Epic Cycles came in 3rd.
Last week Vince Page rode the Solihull CC Road Race where he won the bunch sprint to give him 3rd place. Joe Page, riding now as a senior, competed in the 65 mile Paramount RR which ended in a bunch sprint with Joe taking a fine 4th place.
Another new member, Richard Berriman, riding in his first ever Open Time Trial, completed the 10 mile Oxford City Time trial in an excellent time of 20.46mins to place him 11th behind winner Chris Ball who returned a very fast time of 19.26mins.
This coming Sunday, April 17th, Echelon Cycles are promoting their 5th Annual Road Race of 80 miles around the Welland Circuit.The Event has attracted some top Teams and will start at 10.30am from Welland Parish Hall finishing at approximately 2.00pm after completing 5 laps of the circuit.
James winning already!
The Pershore based, Echelon-Rotor Team, has started off the new season in fine form. James Wall took first place in the Severn Road Club 25mile TT with 54.45mins. Competing in the same promotion Joe Page and new member, Junior, Tom Ward, joined forces to take 6th place in the 2-Up Event in a time of 59.54mins.
James Wall had a second victory in the Stourbridge Hilly 22 mile TT winning with a time of 49.22mins.as well as claiming the fastest hill climb in this race. In the 11mile event Mark Heath took the honours with the quickest time 26.00mins.well supported by Vince Page, 4th, in 26.48mins.
The Team of James Wall, Simon Osborne and Peter Ward won the overall Team Competition in the VC Sevale 10 mile Open TT held on the Severn Stoke Course when James came 2nd in 21.08mins, Simon, 22.53mins and Peter 23.02mins. Also in this event 79 year old veteran, Alan Colburn, won the Vet on Standard competition with a fine time of 28.11mins. Winner of the event was Richard Bradley, Team I-Ride, with a fast time for the course of 20.56mins.
Michelle Parsons, entering a Time Trial as preparation for her Triathlon Season was the fastest lady in the Coalville Wheelers 25 mile event which was held on back lanes and single track roads in a time of 1.08.23hrs.
Steve Dring opened up his season with 10th place in the Ilton circuit race at Yeovil followed by an excellent 3rd place from a breakaway group of 10 riders on the Goodwood Circuit in Surrey.
Road Racing Veterans, Stefan Harrison, Nick Yarworth and Vince Page competed in the Redditch LVRC event at Pinvin. Stefan riding only his second ever veterans Road Race, broke away with another competitor losing out to him in the final sprint for a superb 2nd place. Nick and Vince were well to the fore in the bunch sprint to take 5th and 6th respectively. Competing in the 55yrs + Event, local rider John Callaghan took a fine solo victory.

Tom wins Redditch Sports Partnership Awards!
Team Echelon rider, Tom Ward has been awarded the title of Junior Male Sports Personality of the Year 2010 at the Redditch Sports Partnership Awards.
He said: "I'm really pleased with getting the award, I did not expect to win it. I thought there would be kids from other sports who would have achieved better things than I had. Cycling is my only real hobby and I train five times a week and race all through the summer."
Joe wraps up series win!
Joe Page, Echelon Cycles won the West Midland Junior Cyclo Cross Series after finishing in 3rd place in the final event of the West Midlands Cyclo Cross season at Aldersley Stadium, Wolverhampton. Joe had to fight hard during the event as he needed to finish with a top three placing to ensure his win in the series.
Father, Vince, unable to ride the final event, had accrued enough points to finish third overall in the Veteran Series.
Steve Dring competed in the Rempstone Forest Duathlon in Dorset which consisted of a 2mile run ,10 mile mountain bike ride finishing with a further 2mile run. After the initial run Steve was lying in 17th place but rode strongly in the mountain bike section moving him into 5th place which he managed to hold in the final run.
